The Winery Guide
- Print Publication
Bi-Annual Print Publication
The Winery Guide was the brain-child of Marshall Haas, the founder of the Apartment Guide publication. Its purpose was to give visitors to Napa and Sonoma Valleys the ability to easily plan their experience when visiting the valleys. We keyed in on several leading consumer-driven factors for why consumers chose various vineyards and tasting rooms. We categorized these factors by cross referencing several key features like price, type of wine, activities, food, and more – making it easy for wine lovers to find exactly what they’re looking for.
The full 100+ page publication was to be bi-annual and available in several major markets and stores across America. Ultimately a lack of funding prevented it’s launch, but not before gaining interest from several multi-million dollar grossing wineries.
The Winery Guide publication itself had to be a high-quality feel with a strong focus on functionality. Packing in so many key categorized features was a challenge. More so, was having to keep the different areas of Napa and Sonoma Valleys distinguishable and capture the feel of the area. The Winery Guide had to be recognizable and unique and able to stand out among other publications in busy storefronts. It had to represent the sophistication and class associated with some of the biggest wine brands in the world. And it had to do it all within a compact format.
We utilized a unique set of icons to represent the amenities of each winery, distinctive colors to separate the regions and varietals, and bright, vivid imagery to drive the feeling of being immersed in wine country.
The quality and presentation was so appealing that many prestige vineyards like Artesa, Chateau St Jean, Beringer, Robert Mondavi, Hess, and many others signed contracts with The Winery Guide.
